Some Nutty Details

After yesterday’s posts about the Limited Edition Rares and the Easter “nuttiness”, I got a lot of good questions from you guys through the comments, and although I tried to answer as much as I could, I thought… why don’t I take some of your more frequent questions and bring them to our main nutty “Shop Keeper” –

So.. that’s what I did, and here are his answers:

Someone’s Clearly Gone Nuts…

As you may or may not know, I work in a different time zone than the bustling bee hive that is the Sulake Headquarters in Finland’s cool, but cold capitol city. This means that I will start work around an hour or so before my colleagues in Helsinki head home.

In those hurried minutes I get handed a whole lot of messages, new tasks and some loose ends (this will usually require at least two more cups of coffee than I prefer to drink on any given day).

Although admittedly, this process is always quite hectic, this week has been hectic times ten.

Maybe it’s because it’s a shorter work week, or perhaps it’s that spring truly is in the Helsinki air, but I’m telling you… something’s clearly going on over there, and I suspect, between you guys and I, that someone’s gone completely nuts.

Everywhere I look, there are squirrels and rabbits and.. nuts. Every conversation I’m having, there are squirrels and rabbits and… NUTS! This has lead me to reach the following conclusion: we can expect a lot of Nuts this Easter!

Here are some “loose ends” that I can share before Wednesday:

Limited Edition Rares

So, you all know about Rares, right… they’re Rare. Well, some more so than others, of course. Because while some are so Rare that they go for thousands of Credits in the Marketplace, others were sold in much larger quantities and are worth much less.

There’s been a lot of talk about the reselling of Rares, the uncertainty of numbers, and the inflation/deflation of Rare value, with Habbos wanting new Rares, how could we make them work better for the future? Our product team (the people behind the Furni!) discussed the issue at length, and then they came up with an idea that just might work:

Spotlight: The Game Team

Part of the purpose of this blog, is for you to get to know the back-end of Sulake and everyone that works with Habbo. So to get things started, Mark will be shedding some light on the development team known as… The Game Team!

The Game Team was created at the end of October 2011 and their first project was the revamped version of SnowStorm that was released for Xmas of that year. The team has a revolving staff, depending on needs. Right now it has seven members, two graphic designers, two coders, a testing engineer and a few others.

514 – Behind The Numbers

An Investigation, of sorts…

My story begins with me heroically eating a peanut butter sandwich, as most of my stories do. Just as I finished my sumptuous meal my boss came over to my desk. Her eyes were as cold and ungiving as the early morning sun.

“Mark. I have a job for you. Do you have time for a chat?” She said, smiling.

The only thing worse than your boss coming over to ask for a chat, is when your boss smiles in your direction.

We went to one of the small meeting rooms and sat down. The room is opposite the toilets, so you can see who goes in, who comes out, and not much else.

“Do you know anything about 514?” She asked me, before I even had a chance to sit down.
“I know nothing.” I replied. As is often the case, I really didn’t.
“Okay. Well I’m hearing a lot of rumours
“Is it about the explosion in the kitchen? Because I had nothing to do with it, it was all chemistry. And physics. And biology. There might have been some sociology in there as well, I wouldn’t want to speculate.”
“What? No. I want to know what 514 is, and you’re going to find out. Everyone’s talking about it, but no one knows anything.”
“Why me?” I asked.
“Everyone else is working hard.”
“I’m working.”
“…Hard.”
“Good point.”
